Well, There's not much to tell. I was born in New York, and lived there until I was eighteen. After graduating from high school, I joined the United States Marine Corps for three years. Served in Desert Shield/Storm. It was here that I had one of the most incredible and deadliest experiences of my life. It happened when my unit crossed over the Kuwati land mass into Iraq near a town called Umm Qasr. We were instructed to clear a village of civilians and hold it until the main bulk of 1st Marine Division came forward and relieved us. Intelligence had told us that there were no hostiles in the area, though there were some villagers sympathetic to Saddam Hussein. The Iraqi garrison that had been manning the post pulled out when they learned of the American advance into Iraq.
We arrived at nightfall. In Iraq, sometimes the moon would not illuminate until two or three in the morning, so it was pitch black as we came upon the town. We each utilized nightvision goggles (NVG's), which were good, but had no depth perception. There were 150 Marines in my unit, the village population was approximately 80.
